Journal De Paris

Here's a layout I completed this morning. I had a lot of fun inking and distressing papers from Colorbok. I also did some texturing with my grid stencil and some modeling paste. I used some different Glimmer Mists, pearl, walnut gold, and suede to add that little bit of shine. That gave me a great background. From there I used some I Am Roses, some Petaloo flowers, a Heidi Swapp travel banner and some lace and a bling flourish from my stash. I always like to use my Tim Holtz embellishments too, along with my new Eiffel Tower die.

This shot shows some of the details up close. You can also see a Prima wooden clock and a "spirit" ribbon label from Making Memories.

The title, "Journal De Paris" I cut from the Colorbok background paper that I used as the base paper for this layout. I used Frayed Burlap to distress all my edges.

Configuration box - Mom

During my nearly three year hiatus from posting on my blog, I was still crafting. So I have decided to post some projects that I finished during that time. This first is a Tim Holtz configuration box, my first attempt at one. I made this one to honor my Mom who passed away in February, 2012. I still miss her every day. I made this about three months after she had passed, and I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Here's a close up, sorry it's a little blurry. It shows some of the details that I included in the box. Everything in the box has a reason or memory how it relates to my Mom. I especially love her senior picture!

Here's another picture taken from an angle. My Mom was a seamstress, so there is a strong sewing theme in the box. I remember many outfits I wore as a child, sewn with love by my mother.

Great find!

So it's still snowing like crazy here in Colorado. We actually had a snow day from school today , which I am very thankful for. I went out to the grocery store and it's really bad out there, with no sign of letting up. Crazy weather!! Hopefully it will stop tomorrow and maybe we'll have a little sun!

Today I'm posting a picture of this really awesome wall hanging I got at Hobby Lobby last weekend. It was in the clearance section for only $23. I love the vintage look of it. I caught our cat, Bella, checking it out too.

C'est La Vie by BoBunny

Yesterday I stopped in at Scrap 2 It to see Ranae. While there I picked up this BoBunny binder and matching dividers and paper. It is the C'est La Vie line, loaded with fun colors and a distressed Parisan look to it. It should be fun to put together with some of my pictures from Paris with the girls.

Meeting Temple Grandin

Today was awesome!! I finally got to meet Temple Grandin. As a special education teacher, I have respected her for years, and have been inspired by what she had to overcome to become the amazing spokesperson for Autism and an International speaker! She accepted an invitation to speak at Poudre High School. It was a huge honor for us to have her at the school. She gave an amazing presentation to the entire school. Before her presentation we had a small meet and greet where Temple met many of our students and signed books for us and even indulged us with some photo ops. It really was a great day!!

Weekend class

I just finished teaching the second class for the Ladies Diary mini album. Wow, am I tired!! The album is packed with fun interactive pages and pockets, a very intense class. We met last night from 6:00 to 9:00, then again today from 10:00 to about 6:00. Very exhausting for me and all the students, but I think they all left happy! So here's a shout out to all the fabulous ladies that took this class!! There were 14 students, so it was busy! I teach these classes at Ranae's store, Scrap 2 It. A big shout out to her as well, especially for allowing me share these fun projects with others and for tracking down paper that's been discontinued! Here's a few pictures taken from the class.

Stay posted. The next class is using Graphic 45 Olde Curiosity Shoppe. I'll share some pictures soon!

Military Ball

Kaitlyn went to the Military Ball last night with her boyfriend, Nic. We went to the park before to try and get some nice pictures. It was very windy, but I think they had fun anyway. They both looked so nice!!
